If you research dead malls that are still open, chances are they lost a JCPenney in this massive closing wave that occurred in 2020. I have researched so many malls that had this happen, which led to me coining this term. I find it kind of amusing now, due to the frequency in which I run into this number '154,' and thus have dubbed it 'The Infamous 154 Store JCPenney Closing Wave.' Richlands Mall, located in Richlands, Virginia, is a place that most have forgotten about. If you aren't from the area, you probably have never even heard of it.

Village Center Mall, in Harlan, Kentucky, is one of my favorite malls of all time. Today it is in a state of limbo, between life and death.

Signal Hill Mall, located in Statesville, NC, is my favorite mall of all time. It has faced extreme decline, operating with a single digit number of stores with concourses filled with dangerous amounts of mold during its final years.
